Brickyard Mountain Inn

The Brickyard Mountain Inn existed from 1970–1989. The webmaster remembers the property best for its late-1970s discotheque. Called the Inferno, the disco opened in 1975. It featured a quadraphonic Marantz sound system and disc jockey Neal Seavey, “NH’s #1 DJ”, who presided over a “trip through the looking glass to the bewitching wonderland of soul music and undulating light shows.”

“Brickyard Mountain Inn – A Family Experience. Aerial view of the Brickyard Mountain Inn at Brickyard Mountain. Summers means magnificent panoramas of beautiful lakes and mountains. Swimming in our indoor & outdoor pools, horseback riding, indoor & outdoor tennis, golf, hiking over our 400 acres, dining at our Gourmet restaurant or Cider Mill Family Restaurant and so much more.”

Compare the above postcard to the earlier postcard of the Shangri-la, below. The main difference would seem to be the addition of the Cedar Lodge, on the left, the large pressurized bubble housing the indoor tennis courts, and mysteriously, another 180 acres of land!

“Lake Winnipesaukee’s Most Scenic Resort – Shangri-la. Resort Motel, Panorama Restaurant, New Mermaid Lounge, large heated pools (indoor and outdoor), ultra-modern motel units each with telephone, TV, individual thermostat and a magnificent view of lake and mountains, 220 beautiful acres. Resort facilities on premises include swimming, tennis, horseback riding, dancing, movies, bingo and many others.”
