Rublee’s Band

Rublee (1851-1928) was an accomplished musician and band leader who studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music. He was described as “what might be termed a natural-born musican”, and was “one of the best-known musicians in New Hampshire”.
From 1906-1920, Rublee was the Musical Director of the NHVA (the New Hampshire Veterans’ Assocation). Below are some of the ribbons he wore at the annual NHVA reunions.
Reunion ribbon of Rublee’s Band, 1879-1905. When formed in 1879, the band was first known as the Highland Brass Band. In the early 1890s, the name of the band changed to Rublee’s Band. The band became quite famous and toured the eastern part of the US, including large cities such as New York and Washington, D.C.
