“Early Arrivals” – Painting of Footbridge at Public Docks

PROGRAM COVER, 25TH ANNUAL ANTIQUE & CLASSIC BOAT SHOW

JULY 25, 1998, WEIRS BEACH DOCKS

A watercolor painting by Alton artist Peter Ferber honors James Irwin Jr. and Vin Callahan, founders of the annual Antique and Classic Boat show held on Lake Winnipesaukee. The painting depicts the scene on July 27, 1974, the date of the very first show. Irwin is waiting at the docks, with the speedboat Miss Winnipesaukee in the background, as Callahan approaches the dock in the canopied Callahan launch. Miss Winnipesaukee was a 1930 26′ Chris Craft triple cockpit ride boat that operated for over 30 years. As the morning mists disperse, other proud owners arrive early to claim the best spots at the Weirs Beach docks to show off their boats.
