Castle Rest,1910s

Before it was known as Castle Rest, the house was known as the St. James Cottage, seen below. The house was extensively modified and expanded after this 1890s photo by its new owner, George W. Tarlson Sr. Its name was changed to Castle Rest sometime prior to 1911 (it appeared under that name on a 1911 Sanborn Fire Insurance map). For safety reasons, the second floor balcony was removed around 2020.
