Below, the Winnipesaukee Railroad crosses the Lakeport Drawbridge on its way back to Weirs Beach following the August 19th, 2017 celebration of the 125th anniversary of the Laconia Passenger Station. Following passage of the train, the drawbridge wastes no time swinging back into the upright position, in order to allow the waiting boats passage to the lake.

The Lakeport railroad bridge was originally an unmovable, double-tracked, timber trestle bridge, before it was replaced with the current drawbridge around 1990, to allow lake access from and to the Lakeport Landing marina. It is the only drawbridge in NH, and may be the shortest drawbridge in the USA.
